Hi all. Vista runs very well in my A8Js, but I cannot run NHC - it causes blue screens. This can be 'solved' by removed the ACPI support (erasing files in ACPI folder, per NHC's forum recommendation) but then I loose ACPI functionality, which is what I want (mostly throttling of fan, CPU, etc).

I can install and run Power4 Gear, but it causes other problems - for example, when coming back from suspend/hibernation, screen resolution is off, etc. Also I dont know if its handling CPU speed well, etc.

Any good alternative to NHC which will run well in Vista?

    Thanks,

    Juan Miguel Venturello

Try RMClock. I don't know how it runs in Vista but it's a good alternative to NHC. (personally I prefer it to NHC)

    give it time
software that tend to work closely with hardware usually need to be updated for every os upgrade
consider it a downside in being an early adopter of new os

I run RMClock, it uses 100% of the CPU when its running (and thankfully, fan is running at max speed). Any idea why?

I guess I'm not the only one having BSOD's with NHC and Vista. Thanks for the RMClock suggestions.

bbzidane, yeah, I know so, that it will be upgraded eventually. They've had 2 months already, but anyway, such things take time. Mazda 3s, its a known issue, see the support forums on NHC (and also reported here). Do you have the same issue as me with RMClock? 100% clock usage when its running?

Ah, nice. What laptop do you have? Did you leave RMClock at the default options?

A8Js here. Strange it didnt work, will try it again later. I did toy with settings, so might go back to default see if that was the culprit. Now using Power4Gear extreme, works decently (not as good as NHC but better than nothing).

Let me ask a stupid question, does either NHC or RMClock make use of the P4G instant start key on the A8J series? You know the key above the function keys? Or is it all software driven.
