Just a quick question for which I couldn't find an anwer,
well...the laptop came with a load of crap preinstalled and I want to do a clean install of vista. Is there any way I can get this??Does the recovery DVD install all that bloatware again?
thank you and sorry if that question has already been answered several times..my broadband is down and I have to use a dialup connection which is annoyingly slow...![]()

Hi,
I will be Merciful and not Smite you down with the Mighty "Use the Search button" Admonestation.Just kidding.
You need to insert the recovery DVD, boot from it, let it do its thing, and when it asks you to insert the drivers and applications CD, do not insert it. Instead, reboot the computer. That will bypass the bloatware installation.
You can then download and install the latest versions of the drivers from support.asus.com, manually. Or if you don't care about the latest versions, just install them from the CD.
By the way, I don't think this is intended by ASUS, it's just a side effect.
There is also a faster recovery from the HDD that can be started by pressing F9 during POST, but that will always install all the bloatware.
