Well I have upgraded both of my ASUS laptops to vista (see sig for specs), and it was a smooth transition for both. I had some trouble finding drivers for the Z62F, but found ASUS has vista drivers for the Z62Fm which is basically the same model. So no worries.

Everything works, and in some ways it works nicer than in XP.

Oh, and the GMA950 handles Areo without issue.

My only gripe is the battery length. I'm finding about 10% less battery with vista.

Congratulations to ASUS for making the move to vista relatively easy!

I have heard about the battery power issue with Vista. It seems to be some kind of calculation error in Vista, not the battery itself. Hopefully, a Windows update will fix it.

I know there is talk of a calculation error. But even so, my battery is still dieing about 10% faster than it did under XP. Of course, that's just a subjective experience that could be explained in many ways. But its still what I am getting.

I wonder if your getting poorer battery life in Vista, because the processor is being taxed more compared to xp?

Or because you are using more memory the entire time the OS is up and running...

It could be a number of things, but top among them is 1.) increased GPU usage and 2.) increased HD usage. It seems that vista doesn't turn off its HD prefetch and/or indexing optimization while on battery.

Honestly, though, if 2h40min of battery is not enough then three hours won't be either.
