I've got smth similar on the V1S. It could turn off orr hibernate only when it's in a good mood. And the problem mainly exists when note is connected to the Power Station. Can anybody help with the problem?

A driver issue, most likely. Try disabling devices, starting with bluetooth and network. See if that solves the problem. Probably you'll be able to narrow it down to the culprit driver.

I can't think of any reason that being online, whether wired or wireless, would keep your machine from shutting down. I'd guess you probably should scan your machine for malware.

Well guys i have the same problem on my C90S, looks like it is an ASUS issue.
What i figured out is that when my laptop is pluged into the AC power it just seems to restart everytime even though i set it to switch off.
Even when i hold the power button.

But when the AC power is out, i shut it down with no problem.
Even when its off and i plug the AC power in it starts up, its alive!! LoL

Oh ya and i have xp 32

Have you installed additional programs? And did the notebook shutdown properly when you first received it?

If you answer yes to both, then chances are you've installed something that windows does not like.

Well I can think of a reason. Some bad application or misconfigured or badly installed driver for Ethernet.

I suspected it's something related to the network from the start.

Just reinstall the Ethernet driver, and see if that solves your problem. Otherwise stop programs before you shutdown (like everything from the system tray). See which of them is causing the problems.

You can of course also scan for malware.

Sounds like a BIOS bug... don't we see those popping up all the time with ASUS. Or maybe the RAM incompatibilities that manifest themselves in BSODs on battery also create issues with shutdown? Who knows...

I would suggest getting a newer BIOS if you don't already have the latest...

On my V1s, when I first received it, it would only sleep when I powered down. I found that the power options were set to do that. On the Power Plans in control panel - hardware and sound - power options, there are separate power button settings for plugged in and on battery. Since you are seeing diferent results when plugged in and when on battery, it sounds like this might be the issue. I hope so, as this is an easy fix.

This is a common issue on most F3SV laptops. Updating the camera driver is the solution
