I don't know if anyone else out there is running Vista on their Asus laptops, but I have noticed one particular problem.

The HControl.exe process is launched by the ASLDR Service which runs under the system account. This in turn launches the HControl.exe under the system account.

The problem with this is say you have windows mail setup under your account and then use the mail launch button on the keyboard, this will launch windows mail under the system account which does not contain you mail settings, so in effect you would have to live a double life based upon weather you launched a program with the button or with a mouse click.

To fix this I have written a little executable that you put in your startup directory under your profile.

This executable kills the existing HControl.exe process and launches a new one using your current loggon.

If anyone else is experiencing the same problem and would like a copy of this executable I have made it available at the following URL.

    Enjoy!
