    Hi folks,

it's me again, that newbie M6000ne owner. Well, after my cpu-fan-issue, I found another thing that is confusing me: the w-lan-button does not seem to do anything. I have to admit I do not have a w-lan myself, but I detected one in my neighbourhood and took the liberty of trying to connect to it. Even though it seems to be password-protected, I can establish a link and look for other computers (not finding any though), thus making the computer send away data packages (at least according to the w-lan-status-monitor). Still, the w-lan led does not blink - according to the manual, it is supposed to blink when there is any network activity - and the w-lan-button stays useless. Am I doing something wrong here?

    Thanks for your help, Monty

Where did you read that? The W-LAN LED merely lights up when your wireless card is powered up. It doesn't blink according to traffic.

It said so in the manual. Anyway, after wiping the hard disk and installing Windows from scratch, I managed to get the WiFi running. Even though I do not care whether a notebook comes with pre-installed software as I always go for a clean start, I still wish Asus would make sure all the features actually work when they hand over a notebook with pre-installed software (imagine this: the pre-installed Nero-software for burning DVDs did not recognize the internal drive - pathetic!)
