You may be speaking about something else actually....... The has been out for a year and half and actually really hasn't been sold here in North America for a few months. The chasis was always carbon fiber with a brushed aluminum lid..... but we were in talks with Asus to bring over a shipment with an exposed carbon fiber lid....... That never happened and it never made it to production. As far as I know, if this is what you're talking about, only 2 custom lids were ever made.

We asked Asus yesterday, and they had told us there was no ETA on this unit coming to the USA. Chances are, if we know Asus, it will get shipped here by accident, then we will have 100 or so of them to sell. This is strictly me going off of what has happened in the past with units we weren't supposed to get.

Ditto..... we put in our hand and offered to pick up a 100 of so and make them a limited run model...... but we'd want to wait till it was upgraded to the napa platform.... so that's right there puts at least a few month wait on it.

any idea on how much you guys will charge? hopefully ASUS doesnt charge you too much , so us customers can get a good deal on them ( no one wants to spend 2k+ on a laptop, unless they are crazy.)

Well it's not up to us really. Asus sets the prices. The new W1vb was going to cost as much as the W2 in the same configuration, so if it came in all decked out like the W2... I'd say it would be more expensive than the W2.... so you're looking at over $2,500. If it came in without a tv tuner..... with a lower cpu, hard drive, etc..... it could closer to 2k, but they'd have to cripple the machine to get it to 2k.......

I am guessing in the 2500 range also. Who knows though.

same cpu, ram, hard drive, tv tuner.... and the color shine screen....... it would be exactly the same price.. With the carbon fiber lid.... I know they only did a limited run of them to begin with... they may want to charge another $100 or so for the "limited" factor and because it did cost more for those lids to be made....
