You don't...... I'd tell you to go to another country, but it appears no one else wants to carry it due to the cost so near the W2......... We *may* be getting them in as a barebone, but that may take a couple months.

so NO ONE not even tw where its manufactured is going to be stocking this ?
when you say it appears no one else wants to carry it, are you saying someone currently carries it, or that ProPort, is interested in carrying it.
2500usd is the rough estimate for this computer then, when compared to the w2? -
Your going to go to another country just to buy a laptop? seems like alot of hassle doesnt it.

Well, let me say this........ as I've said before, the US was the LAST known office that was still considering it. The price is only about $100 or less, less than the W2 with the same configuration.... There is a call for it, obviously, but Asus thinks for the money people would rather go larger as the W2 is a decent price for what you're getting in that size......... the W1 on the other hand would be considered... only a 15.4". So they thought it'd be a better idea not to give the W2 competition. However, Asus is offering it and I'm sure someone will end up getting them... like Italy I bet....... but for now the only reason they were going to make it was because the US still wanted to bring it in.
No one is carrying it... I was talking to Asus' notebook PM last week and as said in another thread....... we're looking into the possibility of bringing it in as a barebone (since they don't want to bring it in as an ensemble) ...... But this is going to take some time as we just put it on the table last week. If we can do it, I wouldn't expect it before the begining of the third quarter... -

Right... I realize it's too big for most people... including myself....... but it's an awesome piece of art... Once you get up past 6 pounds, every 1/4 pound seems to really add up..... We'll have to see if we can try to bring barebone W1's into the states in small quantities and see how they sell. If we can do that, we'll be bringing them in. If not, it looks like we'll be out of luck.

My issue with the W2 is I don't care so much about screen size as I do about desktop space. Granted I'm not in the market for one, but if two machines are nearly identical in specs/looks/$$ and one is physically smaller I will take the smaller one everytime. Now if it had a 17" WUXGA...
