At home I'm using a shared broadband connection over a wireless network. Anyway when we set it up we were using one computer connected to the modem and an ad hok network for the other computers. With that setup my W2 worked perfectly for a month or so.
We recently upgraded to a D-Link wireless router and ever since then I've been having problems with dropping out. There were a few set up problems with DNS among other things but now the router is up and running fine for everyone else on the network. There are three other computers connected and they're not having any problems at all.
For me every 10 minutes or so the router will stop responding from my computer completely. If I ping the router it just times out. Then after about 30 seconds or so it comes back online and works fine for another 10 minutes or so. I've tried reinstalling my network drivers and utility. I've upgraded them to the latest version from the Asus website. I've tried manually setting my IP instead of using DHCP and I've tried using the Windows networking drivers instead of the Intel ones. Nothing seems to fix the problem. Interestingly the connection seems to run much faster for about a minute or so after I switch to using the Windows drivers instead of the Intel ones or vise versa. Also when the router is offline from my computer the signal strength is still showing up as good or excellent.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. This is really starting to drive me nuts.

I had a similar problem with my netgear router..... it ended up being a small setting on the router, cant remember the exact term but it was something like timeout, it was set to 5 or 10 in my case which meant that after about 5 min of inactivity the connection was lost. I did the same as u re-installed drivers etc but it ended up being the router that was at fault...or at least my dodgy setup. Just set that to 0 and all was good.
Note I had two laptops one the M2 suffered these problems the most, while my M6 appear to function fine.
Second for speed windows limits wireless trafic to 1.5kb/s to increase this use drtcp ( http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp), to increase this defult. There is a good guide on that website so I will leave any explanation to them.

Thanks for the suggestions Underpantman. As I mentioned in another thread I ended up going back to an older version of the drivers and that fixed some of my problems. I looked for the timeout settings on the router but couldn'f find any. When I'm feeling up to it again I'll mess around with the drivers some more to try and get things working faster. It seems to only be running at about 70% right now.
Thanks for the link to DRTCP too. I'm probably just being blind but I couldn't see any info on what settings to use on that site though. I did a google search and uncovered quite a few recommendations from users in the US but would they be suitable for the UK? I'm using Virgin for my ADSL connection if that makes any difference. What settings are you using?
Thanks again,
Phil
