Yesterday I was reading a review of the W2J which stated the laptop had an instantON feature, a bit like the audioDJ function on some of asus' laptops
Has anyone of you tested the instantON feature? Mine doesn't work, so probably I'm doing something wrong, the button doesn't even work in windows. Maybe because I did a clean windows install. Is the InstantON Mediaplayer any good or does it suck.
BTW: the instantON button is the hotkey beneath the powerbutton

It starts Media Center for me so I'd say it doesn't work.

I just found out it works half for me, when plugged in to AC-power (apparently it doesn't work with battery power) the laptop boots with the colourful bootscreen (same as when you push a CD in the slot-drive when the PC is off) but then just continues booting windows.
Maybe I should mail asus and ask them

Don't bother emailing ASUS, this is a known problem, and instead of fixing it, ASUS has re-written the user manual to say it's just supposed to load Windows and default Media Player (kinda like another power button .. meh.. what kinda logic is that)... Many ppl including myself have contacted them, with no avail...

ps. It somehow works on ASUS' with integrated graphics cards i heard..

I just bought a W2Jc and i'm having problems with the InstantOn key also...

For starters it doesn't work at all - with the laptop off and when logged onto Windows XP. Also when I insert a disc into the optical drive Power Cinema automatically loads, which gets annoying.

Can anyone help me with these issues?

I don't have an asus, but I did try the Instant On and it is OK. But it can read only the disk and CD/DVD. No external USB devices for instance.

I start it by holding the multimedia key. It supports remote control, and it works ok with it.

    Cheers,

    Ivan

I complained about this to Asus UK sales a few months back and they apologised and agreed that it was misleading in terms of the product literature.
(Interesting to note that the details about 'InstantFun' have since disappeared from the W2J blurb on their website..)
