I have tried EVERYTHING (including asking Asus tech support) to stop the crappy Asus Mobile Theatre software from opening whenever any kind of CD is inserted - it is SO ANNOYING..!
    :(
I realise that this only applies to the XP-Pro versions of the W2J (without Windows MCE) but does anybody have any ideas?

I have MCE (which is closely related to XP Pro) and I had the same annoying problem when I first got my W2JB. It drove me nuts to insert any CD or DVD, and Media Center would load. The fix was easy for me, maybe for you too.

Go to Start > Run > msconfig > startup (top far right) and see if you have a command called "ehtray". If you do, just disable it, save and your problems will be solved without sacrificing any other functionality.

Hi, i'm a long time lurker on the forums but i actually registered on the forums just now to maybe help you out. You can try going to My computer, then right clicking your dvd drive and go to properties. Choose the "Autoplay" tab and change the settings for blank cd, dvd to "prompt me each time to choose an action" If that doesn't work you can try out this freeware software called Autoplay repair. You can add/remove entries from the autoplay list or you can make the option "Open Folder to view files" the default autoplay option. If that doesn't work, sorry i couldn't help. And to ninjazed, if olivervh is running xp pro, he wouldn't have the process "ehtray" since its part of media center edition

It has probably something to do with the DirectMedia program.
Look in your taskbar and you should see a yellow icon with red and blue. And you should find it in the startup list of windows (see previous post) and in the running processes of the taskmanager : DMedia.exe
If you kill the process, mobile theatre won't load. Suppossedly there's another solution somewhere, but noone really knows it. Try it (you don't really need dmedia, it's used as a shortcut for standby settings)

Many thanks all for the ideas!

Ninjazed - sadly Spruyster is right in that I don't have the "ehtray" process.
Levin - the 'Autoplay' settings looked promising but didn't stop Mobile Theatre..
Spruytster - killing the DirectMedia app definately fixes it, but does that mean I have to remember to do that everytime I startup the machine or is there a way of preventing it from automatically starting (I can't see it in Startup)..?

    Thanks again!

If dmedia.exe is the problem, you can disable it from booting with windows. Click start, go to run, type "msconfig" without the quotes and hit enter. In the startup tab, find and uncheck "dmedia.exe" if its there and you should be set.
