I was wondering how the W2Pb/x1700 would handle today's games. I'm an RTS player, and I'm wanted to know how it will do with Command & Conquer 3 and Supreme Commander. They look pretty graphic intensive. Will it be visually stunning or be limited to just a few frames per second? I ask because I see benchmarks for FPS but never for RTS. I'm absolutely in love with the W2 series, and been drooling over it since even the W2V. I'm finally gonna have enough money saved up. But I'm still always open to suggestions.

I have a $2500 budget, and another option is to get the Z84j and max it out.
    Core 2 Duo 2.33 ghz
    2 gigs ram
    go 7600 512m
    approximately $2250

I could get a more powerful processor with a Z84j at a lower cost than the W2Pb, but I'm not very fond of the looks or the size. Also I'm worried by the low scores of the video card. I'm also not interested in the G2P because of the size and low resolution.

What do you guys think? Anyone play RTS on their W2Pb's? Any suggestions?

right ive got the W2J. and basically it runs these games fine im running core duo T2500 2gb of ram and X1600. The W2PB is the newer model and can more than handle these games. tis a lovely machine for sure

well if its graphic intensive games you wanna run why not also consider dell
    something like a dell e1705 or xpsm1710
at that price range im sure you can max out the e1705 or get a decent configuration with the xps
    cheers,

My review on the G2P should give you an idea of how RTS games run.

But yes you basically have three choices Asus Z84F which is a barebone and customizable specs, with a lower price. Then you have the W2 series which offers the same performance but with one of the nicest chassis Asus has to offer. And lastly the G2 which you have already decided not to want.

Here's the thing, If your looking for pure graphical performance you may have to look to other brands since they will be offering 7900GTX and GS at the same price as the Asus counterparts. But the Asus laptops do have better quality and design and features, especially the W2 series.
