We bought W2Vs at the same time. My coworker has been playing with his W2V more than I have, but he says his W2V constantly hangs. Mine has hung a few times and our only way out is to press and hold the power button to shut it off. We have both restored our W2Vs using the CDs (he's done it twice).

Could we be pressing some buttons that causes it to hang? I remember mine hanging while I was just browing the start menu. Are there updated drivers and BIOS we should download?

There really aren't any updates, but at the same time, there's really no reason for them the hang unless there's a variable either I or you may not know about.

Here's a link that you should keep handy for the future anyway.. it's link to Asus' W2v update page: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?model=W2V&SLanguage=en-us

Give Asus' Tech line a call and see what they say....... the system should and will run flawlessly, but there are certain things that can even screw up an XP machine. There's something we're not seeing here, but certainly not normal.

    Witch OS do you run.
I experience also some trouble with MCE 2005 and replaced it with XP Pro.
The system is now faster and smoother.
Maybe you both use some kind of software the couse the problem???

Hm, is it possible that you have some spyware running around on there? That's always a possibility. I'd reboot into Safe Mode and run an Ad-Aware or Spybot Search & Destroy scan.

You could also try doing a Windows Repair, maybe you're missing some files.

I think we may have figured it out. I noticed there was an application that runs at startup called "Asus Live Update". After I ran it open, I noticed it was trying to reach the server, but kept timing out or disconnecting. It kept doing this and I noticed that process increasing in memory. Since I've removed it from startup, my machine has been running flawlessly. I have to wait for my coworker's response. Thanks for the suggestions.

Live update can be funky like that.... usually it doesn't cause a problem.... getting it off the start up is a good idea regardless becasue it's something you'll only want to use every few months at most.
