I have a problem with Mobile Theater.

I would like to watch TV from antenna (analog). So i made all the proper connections with the antenna and then i configured the TV Tuner via the program "TV Settings".

When i open TV settings and i set Greece and Pal everything seems to work fine. I set up all the channels and i close TV settings. After that i open Mobile Theater and i go to TV. There the only options for TV is Cable, Digital and Composite. There is nowhere any option about Antenna, or analog TV. The Mobile Theater's manual writes that there is an option inside to choose analog or digital. I can't find any option like this.

So i cant see TV with Mobile Theater. I have installed DScaler and the TV Tuner works great with it! But i would prefer to watch TV from Mobile Theater. It's the remotes that make the difference.

    Any idea???

Do you have the hybrid tuner? Asus' Mobile Theater won't work with the Analog tuner that we got in the states... because that tuner was meant for MCE... as long as you have the hybrid, it should just work.... but let me tell you that if you're not satisfied with the answers you get in one thread.... who do you think is going to answer them in another? The antenna that would come with the Euro models with the digital tuner does NOT WORK with Analog... The same book that you're reading and as I said in the other thread.... the antenna is for over the air digital... period.

Sorry Proportable that i open a new thread but i did it because i don't expect anyone to answer me at the w2v review thread. This is a different problem and i dont want to write posts about this in the w2v review thread.

I have the hybrid tuner and i connect it with my analog external antenna (not this that comes with the notebook). The tuner works fine with DScaler. I can see TV without any problems with it.
The problem is that i can't make the Asus Mobile Theater to show image from the analog antenna. The only options are cable, composite and digital. The Mobile Theater' manual says that there is capability to see analog TV with Mobile Theater. That is what i want to do but i can't do it.

ok....... well at least you thought about this and didn't just assume with the antenna thing... however, both MCE and Asus Mobile Theater don't have antenna options... it's the software......... when they say analog tv it's over analog cable.... if you're using DScaler (yes I know you love the remotes and so on).... but I think you should look at the source......

Asus uses a lisenced version of Ulead home theater software..... check that out.. that'll work with your tuner and those remotes..... and I would assume, hopefully... an antenna.

Hyper, doesn't it work when you select 'cable'? I asume that 'cable' is analog PAL/NTSC. The only difference between cable and over the air transmissions are the number of channels (frequency range). Cable has an extended freq range, but includes the OTA frequency range so I think OTA must be no problem when selecting 'cable'.

As Eddy said, 'Cable' is correct selection for recieving analog tv through the air with an antenna.
It works fine, here in Denmark.
Just don't expect to recieve anything with the little antenna that came with w2, unless you live very close to the transmitting antenna.

The little antenna is ment for DVB-T reception (Digital terrestrial broadcasting). Because there is no smartcard reader in the W2, this is useless (At the moment). All DVB-T in Europe is scrambled as it is pay-tv. Except for certain regions in Belgium.

First of all thank you all for the answers.
After a lot of search I find a solution for my problem. Well the option Cable isn’t what a want. I don’t know why but when I choose Cable I cant see anything.

After looking in the installation folder and in the cd of the program to find a way to make it show analog TV, I found that in the cd there is a .ini file that sets the settings of the installation of the program. This file is the UCMDSettings.ini. Into this file I found that there are some parameters for the installation of the program. One of them is the TV input. There are 5 options for this parameter. Antenna, cable, composite, digital and S-Video. After searching all the parameters I’ve done the following: I’ve copied all the cd to a folder, then changed the parameters of .ini file to make TV input 1 the Antenna and then I ran the setup of Mobile Theater from that folder.
Well simple the program now WORKS GREAT! Now my TV input options are Antenna, Composite and S-Video. I choose these because these are what I need.
It's a shame for a serious program like this to not give the option to choose the TV input of your choice. At least I find out a way to work it.

As for the antenna… the signal isn’t very good but i catch about 20 channels (UHF channels)!!!!! Maybe is for DVB but for me works great!!! It’s unbelievable to have a class and while working the exercises of the class to watch TV with my little antenna!!! My professor asked me what about was the antenna and i told him that it was for wi-fi, so he didn’t disturb me!!!!! It’s really cool!!!

Haha... that's cool..... in mobile theater, have you tried selecting composite input, attaching the AV in cable and hooking up a PS2 ot xbox or something? I just realized that might work and I'm going to try it out since I've got the software...

In Denmark we also have digital tv that is *not* pay-tv, in a little part of the country.Unfortunately not where i live.
They are testing it at the moment.
By spring 2006 it will cover intire country, and by october 2009 the analog signal will be turned off completely.
