Hello everyone!
Well i finally decide to join the club and be a W2VC owner! :asus:
I order my W2Vc from Germany (I'm from Greece) and i am waiting for it to arrive in the next week.
W2Vc from Germany comes with German Win Xp so i would like to put them off and install my copy of Win Xp En SP2.
I have some questions about that.
1. Is there any possibility to have problems by intalling my copy of Windows instead of Asus image disk (Asus image disk will be a german version)?
I'm asking that because after formating my previous notebook (a compaq presario) and installing a new copy of windows, i've lost some notebook's buttons such as e-mail button, internet button and Media button. Compaq doesnt support any drivers about these buttons, so after installing my copy of win they stopped working. I've noticed at Asus Download site for W2V that there are not any drivers about the buttons and the keyboard. Is it necessary to install some drivers about the buttons and the keyboard's shortcuts? And if it isn't, how do they work? Will my notebook work perfectly after installing ALL the Asus drivers from download site? Do they cover ALL the hardware??? I know it's a silly question but after my experience with compaq presario i would like to be sure before i format my w2vc.
2. What about audio and video drivers? Does anyone have test Realtek's drivers (from Realtek site, not Asus) and the new Ati's Catalyst with the notebook. And if someone does, which seem to be better? These from Asus site or these from Realtek or Ati's site?
Thanks!

With XP Pro - you're not going to see any problem at all...
I don't suggest using the drivers directly from any of the component makers as Asus usually changes theirs up for a reason.... you could try them, but don't be surprised if they screw something up.... obviously not the end of the world, but when it happens some people go blank and don't realize that could be the cause. -

Yes.
, you'll have no problem installing a regular Win XPP OS.
You will have to install some drivers to make certain parts of the notebook work such as the launch buttons (the deciated ones). You should be fine with the regular keyboard shortcuts though.
If you install all the drivers from the Asus website, you should be good to go!
I haven't tested that notebook, but I do have an X700 card in my notebook. On my Windows XPP partition, I used the modder from www.driverheaven.net and modded the desktop Catalyst 5.8 drivers from the ATi site - works great, all my games run fine. Definitely worth doing.
The Omega drivers contain more tweaks, although some programs (such as HL2 and CS:S) complain about them because they are not WHQL certified. But the games run perfectly well, so don't worry. I've also tested them on my X700 - work just fine.
Well, have fun! -
Thanks for the answers! But can anyone tell me something about that:

I believe that ASUS ATK0100 UTILITY driver for Win2000/XP is the one you'll need.
