I was searching for W2V reviews and came across this review. I thought it was pretty funny because they gave the W2V at best a mediocre score. It was espeically funny that they said that its inferior to core duo systems. What they didnt say is that the W2V has been out for almost a year (I think). They gave the impression that Asus just released the W2V a few week ago. Their a top notch review center too!

Kind of makes you wonder why they didn't just wait a couple of more weeks to review the W2J...

    *sigh*

I use cnet all the time and I love their video reviews and "First look from the labs". You get the opportunity to see something before deciding to buy it. But, they're no good when it comes to reviewing Asus products. They mostly cover Sony, Toshiba, Dell etc.

I think they probably have some deal with those companies to give them more exposure? They are listed as special sponsors. That's my main problem with them. As soon as there's a new Sony release, they're all over it. But with Asus or other companies, they review a laptop that's a year old?

Yet, when I was looking for a notebook at their site, after watching dozens of videos, I still decided that I wanted an Asus, even though there were basically no Asus products there at all. :p

I've heard lots of people bashing CNETfor their poor reviews, and I never agreed with them...until now, these guys are complete morons, this is a pretty dated machine by notebook standards and they treat it like its just come out, stupid!!!

I don't really put too much importance on the actual reviews. But the video reviews give you a great look at the product, that's my main reason for using cnet. There are a lot of things in there that I would never be able to borrow or see in the store.

But I think it's pretty obvious that they're not unbiased or independent. They give their sponsors extra attention. And in this case their choice to write this review give the audience a pretty skewed picture of the market I think. I agree that it gets annoying and I would prefer a more independent cnet, but there you go.

I personaly dont think cnet knows how to review ****. One they are biased toward their sponsers. You want a camera review to go dpreview.com or dcresource.com . want notebook review come to this site. i just dont understand cnets entire rating system it doesnt make sence.

On *our* camera site ( DigitalCameraReview.com), we pull in some of the Cnet reviews to populate our database, but they can be really hit and miss. For a particular product, we like to provide links to several review sites (including our own reviews, cnet, dpreview, and dcresource).

P.S. Sorry to do a little thread-jacking there, but I had to mention our camera site.

Seems to be a few reviewers out there who have got hold of the good old W2Vc in the last few weeks and decided a review would be good.
Here is one that just poped up at el reg!
They to stuck the boots into the notebook for not having dual core, stating the obvious that with the new model just weeks away this one is not worth buying at full rrp.
    a :)
