    Hi All,

Im sitting here in Australia waiting for the W2J's to arrive, the question is; Are they significantly better than the W2V?

As I do a bit of programming work I need the 17" screen and the option of at least the 1620x1050 resolution. Weight not so much of an issue as I'm looking for a desktop replacement.

As I need to make a decission (and pickup the comp) by 31 March (Aus FBT Tax year issue).

    What about the A7J? :decision:

    Thanx

With the research I've done so far W2J = W2V except for core duo processor, the fixed sound issue and the new X1600 video card (and DVI-port)
So for multitasking it should be better, gaming will be the same
the A7j is just the ugly version of the W2 I think (don't shoot me if it's wrong)

There's no DVI port on either of the W2's.

Are you sure about the DVI-port?
Cuz if there isn't one, then I should tell the local dealer there's a mistake on their website (I hope your wrong because I'd rather have DVI)
    :crossing fingers:
Otherwise the V6Va is back in the running

It's not on the official specs.... but I hope I'm wrong too.... it's just unlikely that I am. DVI is going to go on the A6ja first... You can wish, but it's one of those features that I feel is important... more so than 533mhz ram over 677.... so I try not to let those things fade into the background.

    Found something here
    http://info.asus.de/csm/pdf/asus-nb-flyer.pdf
it's in german, but you'll get the point

    doesn't mention the DVI-port on the W2J :(
but it doesn't mention X1600 either (maybe a little hope left,... guess not. Boohoo)

Unfortunately, it DOES mention x1600. Also, it does mention DVI on A6ja...

What's a DVI Port and why is X1600 a bad thing? I was going to buy W2V but now I'm waiting for the W2J to come out because it has 2x the video memory, is that good?

DVI is digital video interface... if you don't know what it is, you most likely don't need it.... But it's a digital out for video, which is better than the VGA out which is analog... The only place you see the difference is on 19" regular ratio lcds or 21" widesceen lcds and larger......

I don't think anyone really means an x1600 is a bad thing... but I believe they said that as in if the x1600 wasn't mentioned, then there's a good chance they forgot the mention of something like DVI as well... if they mentioned it, then it's just one more place that notes the system without DVI.
