Mine has the fujitsu MHV2100AH, not the AT.
The AH seems to be a 5400 rpm drive.

If I were you I would definately complain and get it replaced!

yes I know the MHV2100AH should be here! anyway I will replace it with a Toshiba MK1032GAX 5400RPM 100GB 16MB Cache or a 120GB 5400RPM 8MB Cache dunno yet, but I know that I will replace this one, anyway at least this will help to check other systems.

    Augix,

The 5400rpm model is the model that should be shipping in the US... I believe it would be the "AH" designation. We do random checks on every shipment to make sure everything is still what it's supposed to be and haven't seen a change there. Asus has also said they haven't ordered W2v's w/ 4200rpm hard drives into North America at all...... so if you have the wrong drive I suggest you give them a call and straighten it out rather than just putting in a new drive.

On a side note....... did your W2 still come with a carrying case or not? I know we've had to switch over to the new models ourselves, but the new models still have the same 5400rpm hard drive.

no carrying case here! I and I already ordered a 5400rpm 16mb chache HDD :) , so I gonna replace it myself no biggie, will sell the other one, to be honest I do not have time to spend on dealing in a mistake they made... anyway I would replace the HDD, the toshiba MK1032GAX runs cooler for less power and have a 16MB cache.
    Thanks for your help!

Well, I don't want to say then don't complain about if you wouldn't pick up the phone or sent them an email.... that's what the warranty is for...... but you're not really complaining at all, which surprises me..... but I wanted to point out you shouldn't have gotten that and neither should anyone else... If you don't want to tell Asus they were wrong, it's your right, but everyone seems to be "so busy" that they don't even have the time to fix a wrong.. However, most people like to ***** about it.

Even if you're not willing to, I'm going to report that to Asus because it's a big problem if it happens more than once.

Do you mind if I ask where you bought it? I mentioned this to Asus and they were dumbfounded... even more so that you don't care enough to call them about it... but they do want to know where it came from... they want to figure out if somehow the wrong ones shipped and if so, to who...... or if someone else is swapping out the hard drives.

    this is the story....

I bought it on ebay no problem there... came with original asus box from factory and asus tape etc... again I don't wanna complain becasue I am happy with my lappy, and I do not have the time...etc...(besiudes that ASUS Customer-TEch Support is really pathetic) ok.... after 1 week I got a MBR problem... (MRB erron on HDD) so I sent the lappy to asus, they fixed the lappy ( replaced hdd)

so there u go... they put the wrong one, the weird thing is that the... on the work order they put "we replaced HDD model.... for model..... (the same)" and they put the one I "had" the AT 4200rpm anyway I do not have the time to **** about this! I called this morning however... they did not awensered so I don't care, they have only 2 ladies getting the calls, then other guy that I can not underestand etc... so AGAIN and to finish with the issue... I am not willing to spend money on shipping, or argue about this OBVIOUS mistake.... another thing... when I shipped the lappy to asus (express mail) overnight after 3 days I called, even the lappy was delivered next day, they said that they did not get it, even after cheking online that the package was signed by FOU... something dont remember, the lady said oh! what happened is that the USPS guy knows us and they sign for us... bla blabla :) WHACHA TALKING ABOUT WILLIES?
so... I don't even want to deal aymore with these people... not time , no desire... I am taking this time just to clarify my point and help you underestand this situation. But if you tell them they will remember my lappy ) and hopefully will improve or pay more attetion when they replace parts! . Again thanks for taking care about this! ;)

That's it- eBay, whoever you bought it from, he probably imports the products himself from overseas.

maybe... who knows! but I have to say that you are probably right, not to worry about the tech support then... still the customer support is not good at all at ASUS. But thanks for your point! :)

    case closed. :base:

Yes, many power bricks get hot when charging, it's normal. I wouldn't place any chocolate bars or candles on top of it if I were you. :p

    Solid advise I'd say madmike : )
I realise they get hot but I was shocked at just how hot this one gets. Athough its day 4 and no fires (or Chocolate disasters) yet.

    Thanks for the response
