Why does the CPU throttle to almost maximum speed when watching DVDs? This means my battery life is rapidly sinking.

And yes, I´m using DVD mode in Power4gear. Since I have undervolted my laptop and using RMClock CPU utility I can see that the CPU usage stays around 1400Mhz (1700Mhz maximum). I have a W3N.

I didn´t think watching DVDs would be such a demanding task. Also the computer gets quite hot and the fan is constantly on.

    Thanks

I presume that you are using AsusDVD. Two suggestions:

    1. Make sure that CLPV is off. Enabling this will fully load the CPU.

    2. Try changing the mobile power settings under the Configuration options.

    Hope this helps,

    John

    Thanks

    Thanks John

I appreciate the help but unfortunately nothing happens to the better. Still almost full throttle on the CPU.

I tried uninstalling AsusDVD and replacing it with POwerDVD Deluxe 6.0 edition hoping for changes, but nothing.

    Anyone else having tips?

    Cheers

AsusDVD IS PowerDVD, it's just renamed. If you have an issue with one, you'll have the same on the other.
