cool. i guess ill order one from you in a while. Any standard 2.5" HD would fit in this housing right? Can someone recommend a not too expensive 80+ gig HD.

All the 2.5" HD can fit in the housing as long as it is a PATA, not a SATA.
Depends on what brand and speed, 5400rpm with 8MB is cheaper than 7200rpm one.
    Cheers

As long as it has a connection like this you will be fine :D I just had a look at the hitachi site, yes ATA-6 is the correct interface.

The only drives that will not fit are SATA and older 12.5mm thick PATA drives, but the only way you would use the later is if you were to use very old drive (like from an old laptop over 4 years old).

well not exactly, but as you can see from this view, basically al the HDD kit is.....the blank travelers draw, with a small circuit board attached at the end that is inserted onto the bay, this board had a PATA HDD plug on the inside (that your drive plugs into), and on the outside another plug that connects the kit to the internal connection when you plug it in.

Also there is a thin metal plate that runs under the tray (I assume for some sort of grounding?) and the only accessory you get is 4 screws that fix the HDD in place.

What is probabaly a bit misleading is that in the photos, I unpulgged the drive and moved it back so you can see the connections (I took these photos a while ago for someone else), when it is fitted the HDD plugs directly into that connector and sits forward.

hmm the total with just ground shipping comes to over $70. Maybe I should just get an external HD.
