    Two questions:

    1) Does the 8 cell battery on the w3j stick out more from the notebook than with the 4 cell battery? Or are they the same size?

    2) The battery life on trustedreviews.com of the w3j using a 4-cell battery was "two and three quarter hours". Whereas, I have read that the battery life is also around 2.5 to 3.5 hours with the 8 cell battery on this forum. Is this true...or is there a significant increase in battery life with the 8 cell?

    Thanks.

first of all, i've never heard of a 4-cell battery for te w3j and if there really were a 4-cell battery there would be no way that it could get 2 hours and 45 mins of battery life. I think the reviewers (trusted?reviews) really had the 6-cell battery that comes standard in Taiwan.

Both the 6-cell and the 8-cell are the same size, they both blend in with the hinge on the back of the laptop however the 8-cell battery is about .5 lbs heavier.

the w3j batterys dont stick out at all as the person above posted. there is nowhere in north america to buy a 4 cell. again an 8 cell will give you double the battery life. around 3.3.5 hours. where a 4 cell if it even exists would get you 1.5 hours maybe.

I don't know if they were dumb enough to make a 4 cell for the "j" model, but they did for the "n" and "v" models. They're both physically the same size... the 4 is just a couple onces lighter... but half the battery life and only maybe $15 cheaper..... so the US never imported models with that battery...... basically because what I said shows it's a waste.... .but on that model, neither stick out, they need to be a certain size to fill in the hinge and any smaller it would look weird and any larger and the screen wouldn't open.

I dont think the W3Js come with the 4 cell n e more. Some of the very early ones did but now its standard 8 cell.

Nope, I'm sure the W3J doesn't even come with the option of 4-cell. The standard in North America is the 8 cell with the option of the modular bay battery accessory which is 6-cell I think. I get 3.5-4 hrs off my 8 cell when I run it on the 2nd to lowest screen brighteness setting and with Bluetooth off. This setting is good enough for me to surf the web and do MS office stuff.

Taiwan's W3j comes with a 8 cell battery. I have never heard of a 4 cell, and only a 6 cell modular bay battery for the W3j.

4 cells were standard everywhere else in the world on the W3n and W3v, except for North America..... on this model everyone else realized what the US office knew last year.

Really? I never saw a W3N/V that came only with the 4-cell in Europe (allthough I did see some SKUs that came with both).

Really? When i went to the asus store and asked the guy said it was a 6-cell in the w3j. The specs of the w3j in taiwan are vastly different, a lot of the things are downgraded like a 1.66 core duo and windows xp home, etc.

there is a 6 cell option in some places. but most come with an 8 cell. but you can also get a 6cell optical battery. there is no reason to get a 6 cell main.
