I was playing Delta Force Black Hawk down at Panera Bread on my lap, and when i exited, I saw 85 degree CPU temp. Nothing seemed to be affected, but is it safe to run this high? I was also charging the battery and using WIFI. Running 3Dmark 06 on a table only produced 73 degrees, so could I have been blocking the vent?

possibly play the same game on a flat surface aka table and check the temperature

100c is threshhold. Anything at or below 90C while gaming is normal. 85C is right on target for centrino chipsets

You don't have SpeedFan installed by any chance do you?

Betwen 75 and 85 are high for idle, but normal for any sort of decent load. But get into the 90's and start to watch it as you really don't want it going over 100.

it only got up to 76 on my cookie-sheet cooler, i must have been blocking the vents with my leg
i idle around 55-60, 50 on quiet office
I use mobilemeter, i have never liked speedfan, even on my desktops. For those i use ITE Smart Guardian (DFI Lanparty UT) and Assus PC Probe (Asus A7N8X) -
It was only so high because it was on your lap. if you didnt get any artifacts your fine.
