I had my W3J for well over a year now and the Asus Liveupdate gives me an error message saying "out of memory". When I look at the Processes in Task Manager. There are some 60 processes going-on. The info at the bottom of Task Manager shows the Commit Charge or memory stopping at approx 2000/ 2400M. Can I get rid of some of those processes? I've tried to "end process" the likes of AOL something and it gave me a warning message "data will be lost" or something. Asus Liveupdate is the biggest memory & CPU usage until the out of memory message and this is with no program opened or visibly "on" in the tray at the bottom right of the screen.
    Any comments would be appreciated.

Remove Asus Live Update. It is garbage.

Control Panel, Add Remove Programs, ASUS Live Update, remove.

Also terminate the process to regain the memory, if needed. Nevermind the "data will be lost"; select the asus live update process and terminate it no questions asked.

For minimizing the list of active processes, take a look at my guide, http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=81741 , namely at the "Services Setup" and "Clean Up / Starting Programs" sections. That should help you reduce the number of running processes to around 2 thirds of what you have now.

EBE is correct, please remove the Asus Live Update program and instead just keep on checking the website for new updates on bioses, and drivers.

Most people update the VGA drivers for small performance gains and the bios if there are problems with the current one.

Other than that you should be fine. You can also check the W3J owners lounge and talk to them and ask what drivers they have recently updated, so they can keep you up to date.

    Thanks for that.

I'll do it tonight when I get home from work.

The W3J owners lounge should be turned into a book, somebody could make money out of that!

    PS: I luv my W3J

That program is the bane of my existence. It caused more issues than I could count for the week or so I had it installed. Plus, it never actually did anything...

    Hi,

I have an Asus Z91F and I've been having the same Liveupdate "out of memory" error message. By the same time that started to happen, I noticed another problem: I had a wireless connection to the internet and I just was unable to connect automaticaly anymore...like I used to. Now it always asks me for a security password...it never asked me this before. And I try to create a new connection but I just can't, because it always gives me a message saying the profile has not been udated or changed, for there had been an error with data base...

Is it possible that liveupdate problem has to do with the wireless internet connection problem? can they be related?
I can not connect through wireless anymore like that ( 'cause I have no security password)...though I can connect through wire.

I am afraid that if I delete liveupdate I won't solve the connection problem...i didn't try nothing yet...

    Any ideas/solutions/thoughts/knowledge about this?

    Thanks

I would suggest remove liveupdate regardless of wireless network problems. Removing it cannot make things worse.

Perhaps the wireless network you were connected to has now been reconfigured to secure connection, in which case you need credentials to login.

If not it might be a driver problem try uninstalling and then reinstalling the WLAN driver. But I really suspect they changed security on the network. You can contact the net admin and ask how you should go about in connecting.
