My friend's W3J (the one with T2300 processor) can last only around 1 hour when it is not plugged in, even with fully-charged battery. And his W3J is not yet 1 month old.

So I checked the battery, and I found out that it's an A41-W3J, with a rating of 2400 mAh (while mine is an A42-W3J, 4800 mAh).

What's the difference of the two types of batteries? Is it normal for an A41-W3J 2400 mAh to last only around 1 hour? Or my friend got a faulty battery?

does your friend have the lower-end battery? like a 3-cell? because i believe a 2400 mAh battery is a 3 cell that lasts about as long as your friends is lasting.

I don't know whether it is the lower-end battery or not. It came with his W3J when he bought it at the beginning of this month.

your battery has twice the capacity as your friend's. how long does yours last for? expect your friend's to be about half of that.

It sounds like your friend has the 4 cell battery compared to your 8 cell. If you weigh the 2 laptops you should find that his is a couple of hundred grams lighter.

    Cheers

Where did your friend order his laptop from? I was looking to get a 4-cell battery myself if indeed it is lighter. You can get a regular 8 cell replacement from most of the resellers. If indeed the battery is significantly lighter and I cant find one online, id offer to to buh it from him. :)

Did he buy it in Indonesia? Has the battery always lasted only 1 hour?

Hey, thanks for all of your reply.
@NDogg: Mine lasted for around 3 hours.
@battlemage: He bought it in Jakarta, Indonesia, at a computer expo in September when W3J first appeared in our country. And, yes, the 2400 mAh battery is lighter than mine. Haven't weighted them using a scale though.
@Jason: Yes, he bought it in Jakarta, Indo. And yes, the battery always lasted more or less only 1 hour.

Well, I guess I'd contact Asus. When you purchased it did they claim it was a 8 cell 4800mAh battery?

Yea, I guess my friend should contact ASUS. When he purchased it they did not claim anything about the battery..... that's the problem. A call to ASUS Indonesia is required I think. Thanks Jason.
