My 2,5 year old asus w3j has started having major problems recharging. You have to twist and bend the adapter so that the cord is just right.
I've tried with a different adapter, with the same results, so I concluded it has to be the dc on my motherboard.

I can't seem to find any supplier of a dc jack for w3. Does anyone know which model I'm looking for? Would a dc jack suited for some other Asus model fit my w3?
And how hard is it to replace?

It requires some soldering, I believe. I don't know where you could find just the jack. Some notebooks have a separate AC power board, which is cheap to replace, but I think W3 is not one of them.

I know some of the resellers listed in the Info Booth do this type of repairs. You may try to contact them about it.

Sorry about the late reply, christmas time and everything :)

Thanks for the great info. I ended up buying a w3000 dc jack off ebay. A bit of soldering and my problem was fixed. Just a follow-up should anyone else stumble upon this thread.

CRAP, I'm a little late to this thread. No it's not soldered to the motherboard, infact the jack has it's own cable/header device.

(I used the W3V picture instead, but the W3J should be the same part, different part number though)

You can GRAB it here http://estore.asus.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=3389 for $15. Use my W3 disassembly guide(located in the ASUS infobooth page) to replace the DC connector.
