Doode: Hey! I´m still waiting for my W3J (as it´s on backorder), so I´ve been doing a lot of lurking in this forum. I´ve read that the BIOS update fixes a lot of things, including the bay battery problem, but I don´t think I´ve read anything about the DVD playback issue. Generally, it´s a good thing to have the latest BIOS.

Take a look at the post here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=1464431&postcount=424
Seems that other people solved the DVD playback issue by reformatting.

Until someone more knowledgable comes along, I hope that helps. :)

Dood: If you really need to save your files, just drop your files onto a pendrive, sd card, gmail, etc. That´s what I do when I reformat :) Hope this gets to you before you do it.

Btw, my W3J isn´t here yet... out of stock, so it looks like I´ll be doing all the things you´re doing on 9 de Augusto. Really excited for it for some reason.

okay i have tried upgrading bios and no worky so i reformated and guess what it worked!!! then i installed everything slowly i found my problem!! drum rolls: Splendid Video Enhancement Technology my ass!! i think asus needs to upgrade that splendid program or my graphic card is just bad but it works perfectly without it. does anyone know what splendid actually do and do i need it? when i was using it, it was also on normal anyways.

Doode: No clue what Splendid does and there´s little mention on it within the forums. Personally, I´d just uninstall it and forget about it. Then again, I´ll probably also OC my W3J when it gets here... Just eight more days or so...
