I love my W3j, but it seems like these days the 100 gig hard drive it came with just isn't enough anymore with all the extra junk i have on this computer. Anyone have opinions on a replacement/upgrade they prefer? I thought about getting an external hdd, but it I don't really wanna lug that around. I'm thinking 150 gig +.....

You could upgrade to somthing like a 160 GB hard disk. It will cost quite a bit, however. Alternatively, you purchase a 80 GB or other hard drive, and install in into an enclosure. It would avoid most of the hasstle with installing Windows on a new drive.

For notebook hard drives, i recommend Seagate, since they are quiet, reasonably cool, and offer good performance. Have a look at this 160GB hard drive here.

Also remember that the W3J uses a PATA hard drive, so that what you should also be looking at, ATA is the same thing as PATA, Serial ATA is SATA.

Furthermore if you want to wait, a couple of months..hopefully the 100GB hard drive will last that long for you, there may be bigger hard drives available like 200GB+ if your interested in waiting, otherwise 160GB seems to be the biggest to this date.

Get the Modular HD Kit .. This way you can easily double (maybe even triple) your storage.

    Cheers.

Why not just add external storage? You can purchase a slim external enclosure, the size of a deck of cards. It is self powered via one usb cable that is also used for data. Takes any notebook drive for storage. You probably should keep the srive in there now as an external if you get another. Asus may or may not question you if you return it with another drive

Like Eddie said, your best option is a slim external HD. Your best option is to put one together yourself. Very simple. Buy the Hard drive of your choosing... and then buy a cheap external enclosure for $10.
