Alrighty, I know some of you wanna see how the Asus W3J comes packed (I know before purchasing the W3J I really wanted pics of every angle possible!)
So, as I was unpacking the notebook I was snapping pictures left, right, and center! I'll upload the pics asap, but before I do... any requests for certain/specific angles of the W3J anyone wants?
It's SO SEXY!!!
PICS INCOMING:
Some of the pics uploaded in the wrong order, but whatever haha.
I also got a MEC Darwin notebook/backpack (fits PERFECTLY btw) and the guy also gave me a free external sound card (not sure if i'll even use it though).
W3J: $1950 Canadian
MEC backpack: $56 Canadian
OD Battery (no pics): $120 Canadian
Seems like my journey in these Asus forums are almost over, but I'm thinking of sticking around and helping any potential W3J owners out if they need it!

Just kidding. Any pictures you post would be awesome.
~ Brett -
haha, alright pictures are uploading (23 of them)
should be about 2-4min! -
if it is possible, can you compare the size of the w3j with 2 dvd case so that I can have a good idea of how big it is.
-
Sure, you want to compare it from the side view? IE: put 2 cases flat on the floor next to the w3j?
-
I LOVE how the power-on button is on the side of the screen
/asus gibberish lovin' -
Any chance to get any pics of the Travel Drawer? I want to know if it accomodates an opional Hard drive, or if it's just a piece of plastic.
A pic of the bottom would be awesome, too. I cant find any, anywhere!
Also, could you show what the DVD drive looks like, both in the lappy, and outside, sitting next to it. A shot of the inside of the empty DVD bay would be great as well.
Thanks for taking requests...feel free to just say no if ya want -
Where did you buy it from?
-
Is it just me, or did they change the screen hinges?
-
-
Nice pictures. The W3J sure is pretty! Congratulations.
-
The power buttons on the handle of the laptop, so it doesn't make it look ugly !
-
wait.. what color is the lid? I always thought it was black.. charcoal, carbon.. whatever. It looks more like macbook pro, silverish?
-
its brushed aluminum..hence the um aluminum color -_-
-
I just ordered mine today from Newegg along with an extra gig of RAM. The RAM is shipping from NJ...W3J from CA. AARRRGGGHH!!! I should get the RAM by tomorrow, and the W3J by Monday.
I can't wait! I also like the fact the power button is on the side of the hinge. -
can someone comment on why the hinge design changed?
-
The hinge did not change.
Noodles didn't put the battery in so it looks empty. -
oooh, i see. i had thought the hinge was solid across the entire length.

Nope, It just looks that way when the battery is in place.
-
-
Sorry, I had to run out for some errands last night couldn't get any more pictures. I think someone posted it already though in this thread. -
-
Can you list whats inside the box ? like the cables, cds etc etc.
and does it come with 2nd HDD kit (optical) or do you have to buy it ? -
Meh, maybe I can do without it anyway. -
Wow... I never realized how big the gap was between the base and the screen when it's open!
-
I own one, why did I just look at all those pics! LOL Its THAT sexy!
-

Welcome to the W3J club. It is a beautifully designed laptop
I've had mine for about 2 months now and it keeps on rockin'.
-
Probably the RJ11 cable (phone cable).
It doesn't come with RJ45
...Figured out what the extra cable is, its svideo to rca so that you can send video out by rca if you want. -
I'm not quite clear on aluminum color. Is it have a similar finish to the macbook pro? Cause 9/10 pictures I see, the w3j always seems a darker color(usually close to black).
I'm looking at the top of my pepsi can right now, and it doesn't look very dark, no matter what angle I look at it. -

I just hate it when review sites get special press release editions. They often aren't representative of the actual product consumers get. -
W3J in Singapore and Indonesia comes with a wireless mouse and a carrying bag. I think it's different for every country.
-
The North American version does not have any freebies, every other version, European, Asian, etc. all will have it.

Excluding special countries like Taiwan, etc.
The prices in USA are one of the best, not even mentioning that you have almost nonexistent sells tax (that is easy to bypass) and greater income than much of the world.... -
However, I have no interest in the bluetooth mouse and the carrying bag... I prefer a Razer Copperhead or a Logitech G5 (I have both) for the mouse and Targus or Belkin carrying bag. So the two bonuses that I got mean nothing to me..
-
Hehe... if anyone is looking for a backpack/laptop bag (perfect for bringing textbooks+laptop to classes/library/etc) ... I highly recommend the Darwin MEC bag!
-
-
It works out fine for me. I'm a biomed student, and I pretty much live at the library when I'm not in class. Typical things I throw into my Darwin bag before heading to study:
Asus W3J
2 Textbooks
1 Notebook pad
1 Binder
1 Pencil Case
1 Nalgene Water Bottle
and there is still space, as well there is no discomfort because the bag has those super soft padded straps for your shoulders -
Today I picked up Wenger Avenues Synergy Notebook Backpack by Swiss @ circuitcity and I have to say that this bag is awsome for the price ($47.99+tax) Regularly it's about $80
-
Nice pictures. Congratulations.
-
The touchpad seems very like the one on F3J series.
Congrats
W3J Has arrived! Pics, LOTS OF EM!
