Hi All,
Just wondering where I would be able to purchase this addon, and ships to Australia?
Also, how heavy is this battery compared to the removeable DVD Drive?
-
i would like to know this as well, although i reside within the US.

I'm in the US, and I got my mod-bay battery from PROPortable.com... not sure if they still have it since the W3J has been phased out. Other vendors that I've had experience with that you could try are geared2play.com / btotech.com If anyone has any other suggestions definitely throw em this way

We still have 38 pcs in stock, in grey color.
-
Well a bit hard to say exactly as I do not have any accurate scales, but I would say as a wild guess 1.5 x the weight of the DVD drive and 85% the weight of the main battery?
I actually have 2 main batteries and the Multibay battery for long trips, but on short ones I still prefer to take the multibay battery, it is smaller and becaus it is slim it fits into a bag better than another main battery -
what about in black?

We only have grey color, so hard to get black color in, we compomised, got the grey color in, you can use black permanent marker to make it black.

LOL !

So the battery doesnt go onto the spare modular drawer that comes with the W3J?

Yes the modular bay battery does go into the multi-bay of the W3J, that is what it is designed for. Meaning you will have a main battery and a modular bay battery, both inside your laptop giving you close to 4 hours of battery life.

Thank you for the reply. So if the battery goes inside the multi-bay, then what is the fuss about the colour of the battery, if its covered by the multi-bay. LOL

The grey battery works exactly the same with the black one, the reason it is in grey is it is made for Asus W3A notebook, W3A and W3J looks the same, just different color and video card, here is the link for W3A:

yeah but it still sits flush with the side, let me explain, when you remove the DVD drive it leaves a hole in the side of the W3, the battery is the exact same size as the DVD drive and on the outside face instead of having an eject button and DVD decals it is just a plan face which will be grey or black (well actually more a dark grey). the W3 series has a different chassis colour, the older ones are grey and the newer ones have a much darker chassis.
so if you have a grey 2nd battery and a darker chassis, you will have a dark grey chassis and where the DVD drive normally sits, you will have a light grey pannel. just aesthetics, they are exactly the same.
using a marker hmmm ...... I would rather grab a small can of spray paint, give it a quick sanding, and paint the end you can normally find small automotive touch up spray cans I'm sure you could get a colour that closely matches

Ummm... are you even going to be looking at it on the side? I mean, most of the time during use you'll be looking straight at it rather on the side.
Also, having it colored in that sense makes it marked, so if anyone else ever came by with the same unit, you'd know from a distance which one was yours right away
, (though chances are that you'd would probably just redo the whole paintjob as something else, but anyway...
)

yeah you are entirely right, functionality wise it makes no diference whatso ever, I suppose it is just down to weather it bothers you if it is another colour or not.
I once new a guy who would drive his car onto small carpet squares in the garage and then pic the stones out of the tires! one word comes to mind.....
