Hi, I'm having probably the weirdest problem. I have a standard W3J, bought it about 6 months ago, and it's setup on a dorm desk. It has the battery in it still, and I have it plugged into AC power.

The problem is, when I play any music (or sounds) at a high volume, and close the monitor there is a VERY high pitched screeching noise. There is no noise apparent when the monitor is open. I've also noticed the same kind of "interference" when I have the line out going to my stereo speakers (Which are positioned near the monitor), but this time only at high volumes and whether the monitor is open or not. The noise is unbearable, and extremely loud.

I've never had this problem before, and I'm really worried something broke. I've also had my computer layout just like this for over 4 months with no problems yet. Does anyone have a clue what's going on?

UPDATE: I figured out what the problem is. Turns out I had been messing the microphone settings earlier, and I had left the internal microphone on for some reason. I can blow into the microphone, and it creates noise through the speakers, but when I speak into it there is no playback. I can't seem to turn off the microphone, and the noise still persists. I'll continue trying to turn off the microphone, if anyone has any suggestions (other than control panel) please let me know.

I have the internal mic set for recording in the control panel's sound manager. No matter what volume the recording is set at, the noise is the same.

Hahah, I figured it out awhile back. For some reason, even when I had the volume all the way down and muted it still made noise. I had to reinstall the sound drivers to get it to work.

    I guess simple fixes work :) .
