    Hey guys,

    If I customise a W3J with these:
    - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz T7200
    - 100GB 7200rpm
    - 2GB DDR2 667
    - 256mb ATI X1600
    - Dual Layer DVD+|-R/W
    - BlueTooth V2.0
    - WiFi 802.11g

Will it be hot and noisy during Word, Web browsing etc?

    this is my W3J ....

    Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16GHz
    2GB Corsair PC2 5300
    100GB 7200RPM Seagate
Everything else standard ... Using 8 cell, 6 cell optical bay battery coming soon.

Anyway thing IMO doesn't get hot at all. On AC played CounterStrike Source for hours and it didn't even feel hot (except for the warm air blowing out the side).

I love it ... quiet, good battery life and can game! (well at least source)

Hey flip218, I was also wondering about the noise factor. Is the baby noisy? Or when does it get noisy?

Also, I see that you went for the Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16GHz. I was wondering is it really worth spending another $AU400 just for a meazly 0.16ghz extra?

I dont have the machine, but i would definitively say NO. As long as you've got the T7200 which has 4 mb cache, I would be happy. The extra 0.16 GHz is only measureable in synthetic benchmarks. You won't notice any difference between the two CPU's in general/ordinary use.

    Thats my opinion..

EnergyzeX which Australian online vendor do you recommend? I am buying a T7600 through my friend in Brisbane.

If you can afford it, then go for it.. Personally I wouldn't upgrade such a nice cpu (your current 1.83 yonah) at this point, unless you really need to be able to run 64-bit Vista.

My office pays for the T7600... my current 1.83 Yonah will be transferred to another W3J in the office.

The lowest CPU for W3J is 1.66 GHz (a T2300). In my country we can always get the funniest ASUS available.

I'm planning to order a T7600 from www.skycomp.com.au for AUD 952 through my friend in Brisbane.

try looking at other asus models not aimed at gaming. only reason to get a a8js is for gaming i feel, and since you're not going to game at all, kind of defeats the purpose of getting one. The w3j looks nice, but you're mainly paying for the x1600 in a 14" laptop, but if you're rich go for it.

I would think so. I haven't dealt with them before. Yet I would recommend P4laptops because I've dealt with them and they are fine, and I think you should consider them. After all they do sell the W3J for about $Au200 cheaper =).
