Has anyone else noticed a increase in heat with using Vista. I have Vista managing my power with the scheme set to balanced. My CCC has powerplay set to balanced as well.

Even with those settings, it still seems like the machine heats up pretty quickly. The fan is on most of the time, albeit a low whirr.

Just wanted to see what others were experiencing as far as heat issues go.

    Thanks,

    Sean

    P.S. W3J FTW!

I have always used Vista, so I have nothing to compare it to.

After I upgraded to Vista, I always let P4G manages it for me, always with High Performance settings. When I used XP, I always used Super High or High Performance. I don't notice any difference in terms of heat. Or maybe I just don't care enough.

Thanks for the responses. Caleb, how often is your fan on when you are using Vista, my machine heats up and the fan usually stays on from low to medium.

vista uses more resources than xp even when it's idle. that's why notebooks heat up quicker on vista.

As far as I know the fan is always on. I expect that though, that is what I am used to from my former V6j. I can tell that with PowerPlay on and things like that it runs cooler than without them, though.

One more question Caleb, do you have p4g extreme installed? I just installed the program, and now CCC does not have Powerplay as an option anymore.

    Any ideas?

Yeah, I have P4G installed, but I run powerplay from the Windows Advanced power scheme options.
