Hey I just bought a used w3j, and everything about it is great except that I can't get it to work with a network cable. Everything looks ok and I have reinstalled the driver. However, it still does not detect that a cable is plugged in. I this something that I have done wrong or is it a dead nic?

Are you sure that the cable works?

The other thing is that you may have inadvertently killed a service that monitors network connections. If you have messed with the msconfig before you should go back and make sure you aren't disabling any critical programs.

If that isn't the problem then you need to contact the seller and make him pay to get this fixed ASAP. Selling broken laptops while advertising them as fulling functional is unacceptable.

Try disabling and enabling the network card in the device manager. And check to see if the other side is connected.
