Hey! I'm pretty sure that I have decided on the W3J as my new computer, but I had a few questions to ask. As far as where to buy.. I heard that PROportable has great service, but i have seen other places with overall cheaper systems. My other question is on the warranty and whether i should buy the extended warranty for $170 or whatever it is. Also, are there any useful extras that i should get for college or just for fun?

Proportable has a solid reputation here and Justin from proportable roams these forums so if you ever have any problems you can just complain here and get them fixed =). I think buying from a good reseller is more important than saving maybe $50 because you might need to get your laptop repaired or sent through the reseller. As for the warranty most problems with new laptops happen within the first year so the extended warranty might not be too important.

I've been lurking around quite some time now over here, and I can say only one thing. Proportable is a great company, although I haven't done business with them (doh, I'm from Europe) he provides great information and recommendations.

Also have a look at this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=42307

Listen, I don't want to break of the proportable love session here, but what you need to keep in mind is that with any sort of a warranty, it's always worth it. The question is, will you need it. If you think you'll need it, you probably won't, and if you don't think so, you deffinately will!

Here's one thing to remember about college...... The entire first year we were in business, all of our notebooks got sold to college kids within our school and the surrounded schools in DC...... every single problem they had revolved around a liquid getting spilled on their keyboard...... usually beer, but even worse... coke. The warranty isn't going to cover anything like that and I'd say in a dorm situation, if that's what you'll be in...... protect the thing as if your life depended on it in the first place and get the warranty for protection. After all, a screen or a motherboard are going to cost you almost 2 1/2 - 3 times what the warranty will if either just after a year. It's uncommon and Asus has some of the best running systems, but you never know. If you never use it, what's $170 over 3 years? If you use it even once, it's a steal.

So, that's how I explain it.... I hope that helps.

Thanks for sending out my W3J this morning. I can hardly wait for my baby to come on Friday. I was pleasantly surprised to see it ship so quickly. Top notch service there for sure. I purchased the W3J in the middle of the night...well, around 1:16 AM PST :D and I was checking how many were left this morning when I woke up (~6:30 AM) and was surprised to see them all sold out. I'm just glad I got one of the last 3 that were in stock and to have the fun time of playing around with it over the weekend
