As soon as I recieved my W3J two days ago I installed a few games Postal2 and Half Life 2 converted to NTFS messed around and in HL2 I went to configure the settings for graphics it would give me an error everytime I'd try to change the resolution in gmae and kick out of hl2 so I rebuilt my machine and installed omega ATI drivers then went back to installing HL2 and changed resolution no crash this time works great and all so
question:
Any programs you guys installed on your W3J after installing XP to get the best battery life/performance, or any programs in general that is a must for any laptop that you guys use?
BTW W3J stock options with processor Upgrade to T7200 Core 2 Duo

Just to make sure, I am going to ask, but you didn't format the laptop right? Meaning you still have the stock Asus programs and related applications.
Other than upgrading the GPU drivers, do check if you have the infinite restart problem. Otherwise use Catalyst 6.8 to fix that. Other than that you should be good in terms of GPU drivers.
The next thing you may be interested in is software to monitor your laptop, like NHC, speedfan and RMClock.
To increase perfromance have a look at the programs installed, remove useless programs like Norton, since it is a resource hog. Also view your startup and remove checkmarks there aswell to quiken your boot times.
Window + R -> tpye "msconfig" -> click startup
Other than you should be good to go! Enjoy! -
No I did format the computer and used the xp key that came with the machine to finish installing xp. Installed omega drivers, bt, wlan,lan,soundcard,modem, etc... but i will look at those programs you mentioned NHC, Speedfan and RMClock
