Well being a college student, I find myself in the library a lot doing school work. But it's pretty embarrasing when I turn on the laptop and up comes this Asus startup screen with a nice woosh-ding sound to it. How can I get rid of this sound or mute it?

Go into the BIOS and disable it

Haha.. that does sound kind of funny. I'm surprised they implemented that into the new BIOSes...

I concur with chemistry, there should be an option in the BIOS to disable it.

It's only emberassing if you let it be! When it does it, simply look around nodding your head back and forth. If you make eye contact, simply point at the machine a couple times cuz its the ****!

I find it annoying when you hear lots of people booting up their laptop in places that are supposed to be quiet. So maybe it's not about being embarassed but annoying to the people around you. Although, ASUS is the ****...
