All this update does is fix the bug that caused many W3J owners countless sleep as to why they could not install Vista. If you get the infinite reboot loop when trying to install Vista, then this latest BIOS fixes the problem. Go ahead, install it.

I realise that 211 fixes the Vista reboot loop problem, but that still doesn't answer my question, can I update to 211, and still just happily run with XP, and upgrade to Vista later?

Yep, love my W3J, and can't wait to get home and whack my T7200 in (I work on an oil rig) It's just a shame they were so bloody hard to get in Australia.

I look forward to seeing your upgrade. I upgraded my HDD to 7200RPM last week. Next upgrade is a Core 2 Duo, T7200 or T7400!

Although my CPU was a freebie, I agonised over whether to get the 7200 or 7400. In the end I settled for the 7200, as the majority of info I got said the difference in performance was negligible. So I used the balance of my voucher to get something for she who must be obeyed, just to keep the peace. Where did you get your W3J from?

    NICE!

I don't plan to put Vista on this laptop now, if ever, but it's still nice to know I can, hehe.

I use XP, just updated the BIOS to 2.11, and my W3J still runs XP happily. So I guess the answer for your question is yes, yes, and yes.

OK, just an update for whoever that may concern: I just installed (clean) vista ultimate, with 2.11 BIOS and all drivers in ASUS W3J's driver site plus the ATK drivers listed by Ken (GenTechPC), and everything works beautifully. So... W3J + Vista = OK!!!

Much slower than XP. Doesnt bother me though, as I dual boot these 2 OSes! One for XP, where its very stable, and all programs I need are installed, and the other - Vista, is for program testing, and streaming files over to the Xbox 360!

Its been awhile since i've seen a W3J thread come up again. glad that its not completely dead. I found in my dual boot, Vista boots up quicker.

    Hey guys,
Kind of off topic, I'm a W3J (H026P, T2500) owner and I need to pull some information from Windows, problem is I don't have Windows and I'd greatly appreciate if you can help me out. I need the vendor ID and device ID of two things:

    In Windows, under Device Manager:

Step A. Under "Sound, video and game controllers", select "Realtek High Definition Audio". Get Properties and then click on the Detail tab. Record the vendor and device ids.

Step B. Under "System devices", find "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver For High Definition Audio" and also get the vendor and device ids.

I Just wanted to double check if I'm getting accurate information from my Linux box.

    Thanks!

The volums not working for me as well!

Do we need to install any new drivers for it to work?

Did you install Vista from the upgrade disk + drivers or from another source + drivers?

For those of you who have installed Vista, what is the new battery life approx? comparable hopefully?

Also, It is my understanding that going to vista via the driver cd+ vista cd is an "upgrade" and not a reformatting? What I mean is that when I put vista on am I going to lose all my information/programs on there now??

Hey guys, I just installed Vista Ultimate and it doesn't seem able to control the fan properly. What drivers are you guys using for the ACPI? Thanks =D

Have this problem too. Also, for volume keys: Up en down work, mute does note. It says its muting, but there's still sound.
