I just got my W3J and I've read where people are getting 3-4 hours on their battery on the same setting I'm using. I'm on battery, screen brightness is around 88%, cores both running at 997MHz and just simple idling and web browsing only getting around 2-2 1/2 hours.

Any suggestions on how to get an extra hour of battery life? (Again, on NBF a guy is getting 3:45 with his screen brightness @ 88%).

    my specs:

    Core 2 Duo T7400 @ 2.16Ghz
    2GB Corsair PC2 5300
    100GB Seagate 7200RPM
Everything else standard W3J (8 cell ... 6 cell optical bay battery coming soon)

Specs in my sig. All tests/benchmarks were done on fresh reboots as well as a clean install of XP. Default drivers used.

Test for CounterStrike Source. In an 24 man Officer server I averaged 70-80 fps. Lowest 55 fps, Highest 122 fps.

Don't know, but maybe it's because of the rather high-end T7400 CPU? The pre-configured (default) model only comes with a T5500.

having a T7400 2.16GHz could make me lose 1 hr of battery life?

CPU undervolted? His may be... That was a huge battery life gain on my Z33.

No, don't think so. On battery the system underclocks from 2.16GHz to 997MHz. Don't really want to sacrifice performance to gain that extra hour. Got the optional optical bay 6 cell battery coming. So that will help.

lol, i'm getting around just over 4hr on the 8 cell with my core duo T2500, 2gig ram. Thats with
    wifi off
    bluetooth off
    disabled the cd drive
disabled the lan, wifi, 1934 adapters
    disabled the internal modem
    disabled the IR
    screen on 2nd lowest brightness
    running on battery saving mode
    switched off the antivirus
Running MS Word 2007 - typing sporadically

Plus if you really want battery life, you wouldnt be doing much that is performanced based so running it at 997mhz will be plenty.

You don't loose performance undervolting. The CPU runs at the same frequency, just at a lower voltage then Intel rates it at (since the ratings are conservative).

I was able to reduce my P-Ms voltage by ~0.3V throughout the range of SpeedSteps. This increased battery life (I don't remember exactly how much, especially since I installed NHC immediatly after Windows) and gave me a ~10-20% reduction in CPU temps as well.
