My W3J hibernated two times in a row while plugged in to the mains. It finally went off completely(scary) and didn't come on for about thirty minutes....the AC adapter was extremely hot(I know that isn't normal). It finally came on about ten minutes ago(just as I was about to call ASUS Holland, how convenient  ) and I found out that the battery was completely drained (WTF??) What is happening??? It is charging now but the AC adapter is still very very hot???

    What should I do??

Recently Norton Internet Security has a habit of kicking in late when I put the W3J on(or during restarts) and the Security center icon pops-up and tell me that my computer is at risk, what can i do to fix this? The security center icon was on for about ten minutes the last time (before my W3j went off)When I open Norton Internet Security it tells me my system status is Attention! (the Antivirus has an Attention! sign and when I click on it the detailed status of the Antivirus is okay)

    Thanks! :(

First the ac adapter getting really hot is totally normal. so hot in fact it will burn u. well the feeling not actual burn. Turn the hibernate feature off in the powersettings. if the battery doesnt properly charge. since the ac adapter is getting hot its prob working. The battery is faulty of the charging port.

Uninstall Norton. Now. And use Avast, its free and less of a resource hog!

The A/C adapter is now a 90w converter, the previous ones used before was a 65w, so it will be much hotter.

Thanks for the replies...I was so scared when my notebook went off lol, I didn't know that the A/C adapter ran so hot. I will uninstall Norton (should have done it a while ago but I was feeling lazy and I wanted to use the 3-month free subscription ;) ) and install Avast! and Sysgate Personal Firewall :)

Check the power settings as has been said - I know there are separate timeouts on the hard drive shutting down and the monitor. Amazing if Norton was really causing the system to work so hard/constant.

The fact that your battery is not charging is scary though - like a power management issue.

Just thinking out loud, but did you have something plugged into one of the USB ports?

it may also help to remove your battery while you're sleeping or something. i've had a problem similar to yours where my computer completely shut off and wouldn't turn on for awhile. i was informed to remove the battery for awhile, and lo and behold, it started working like normal again.

No I didn't have anything plugged into any port; I'll check the power settings. :)

    Thanks, I'll do that.

It went into standby about thirty minutes ago and the screen wouldn't turn on; I pressed the mouse buttons/trackpad, the power button, the keyboard, everything lol and it didn't come on. I had to hold down the power button and restart it. Scary!  :p
