I've had my W3J since last September, and it's always had a terrible viewing angle, but I didn't notice too much until I happened to take a close look at a black screen while it was booting up. I realized that if I'm perfectly centred on the screen, everything outside of the middle 1/3 is grey instead of black, and I don't think that's right.

Looking at it some more, the colour shift during normal use is bad to the point where a solid colour turns into an obvious gradient just looking at it straight-on. I just got a Dell 2007WFP, and a side-by-side comparison makes it even more obvious.

Is the screen on this laptop really that bad normally, or do I need to send it in to Asus / back to Milestone to get the panel replaced?

w3j screens are usually like what trooper described.
No light leakage but a poor vertical viewing angle.
