Like the title says... I'm just wondering how many W3J owners bought those microfiber screen protectors...

I own a W3J... and I have noticed that the screen is a little bit reccesed into the LCD... and that sturdy aluminum lid should keep the screen from touching the keyboard.... but I just wanted your opionions....

    so? what is it then?

Screen protector or not? if yes, then where did you get yours?

    I'm not worried about it.

If it were a tablet pc I sure would, but since I never touch it except when dusting, it's a waste of money and time.

You'd be surprised at the dust accumulation on pretty much everything else, speakers, TV, etc.

I didn't notice myself until I started cleaning them, and every 1-2 days it already has a fine layer of dust

To make it short and simple: Conductivity of the screen and magnetic force.

I don't have a W3j, but I do use one on my V6j. It is surprising at the difference it makes. When you carry books and such in your back with your computer, you can get enough pressure to get marks from the keyboard on the screen, plus they just generally help with dust, and double as cleaning cloths. They also reduce the amount of dust and oil on the keyboard, which is nice.

I find the lid to be very strong and well deigned, am just back in the UK for two weeks and travelled from the US to UK about a week ago with my w3j and old compaq, bacause i had soo much stuff my w3j was stuffed into a laptop bag with lots of peripherals, even with the extra prerssure (because the bevel and screen being recessed and the aluminium lid) it is in perfect condition you would have to stand on this thing before you damaged the screen!

actually i've noticed that the glossy screen on my W3J attracts less dust than my previous Z70va with a matte screen.

and to answer the OP.. no need for a screen protector if you're not traveling all the time with the notebook.

wtf? Dude, my screen's all scratched up now. Like REALLY scratched, I can't read anything. I started and it didn't work right but I thought it'd get better as I went on. Are you sure what you said was right? I used SOS...

After much experimentation I've found that the most optimal cleaning method is to use a fine sandpaper (preferably with a Grit size of 100) and a rotary sander. It polishes the dusts and other crap off in no time! Though for some reason there seem to be an ever-expanding hole in the middle of my screen. ;)

Seriously though, I have not found notebook screen protectors to be necessary in any of my notebook computer (even my tablet PC). Usually I use a soft 3M Scotch Brite cleaning cloth to clean my screen, it's pretty effective and seems to statically attract the dusts.

I got a pair of Radtech ScreenSavr's. One for me and one for my bf.

We both really like it. My screens pretty clean so I didn't use it to clean mine yet, but he did. Both of ours came with a cleaning solution and detailed instructions on how to clean your screen with their ScreenSavr Microfiber cloth. (Such as, have your laptop sitting on it's side when doing so, etc etc.)

I would recommend the RadTech one in these areas, if you feel you need one:

    - looks nice
    - probrably protects LCD (I have wristpad clear protectors, so they might scratch my W3J even though the LCD is recessed, plus I'm going to be travelling alot, luggage, books, etc.)
    - keeps keyboard clean
    - can use it as a cleaning wipe
    - shipped mine very quickly and came in a nice package with impressive instructions
    - RadTech's comes with some kind of first-time cleaning mixture
    - Radtech has a size that fits the W3J very well. Better than Tom Binh's because Tom Binh's doesn't cover all the width of the W3J keyboard.
