I believe there's a key combo you need to press to do this -- others who will post after me will probably remember what it is. Inserting the cd and then rebooting doesn't do anything, because your BIOS is probably set to boot from the HDD before the optical drive.

Indeed - press whatever key allows you to pick the boot medium as the BIOS loads and select the CD.

However, you don't need the CD if you haven't touched the recovery partition. In that case, press F9 as the computer loads and recovery will be even easier.

ESC is the key for popping up the menu with boot devices. Press once at the ASUS logo screen. Then select CD/DVD.

Or, if you set the BIOS to boot from CD/DVD-ROM first, insert the recovery disk, reboot, and wait until there's a message 'Press any key to boot from CD...' or something like that, and press any key.

    Where is the "any" key?

    Haha, I'm sorry, couldn't resist.

If you press and hold F9 it should start up the recovery partition located on the HDD. This process is much much faster than inserting the CDs in the drive. Take about...1/5 of the time? something around there

Even less. Order of minutes, HDD. Order of hours, from CDs.
