Title says it all.
Darn it Asus notebooks are so tempting...I already made a choice for the W3J, then the V6V shows up and I'm stuck deciding again.
I'm looking for a light laptop to carry around, with high end specs.
The V6V is a bit better in my opinion because it has a 15 inch screen, which I like.
But the W3J is already SUPERIOR. And its light.
So yeah, what do you think?

You probably mean the V6J, which also has the Core Duo. My buddy who first got me into ASUS notebooks has a V6J and the thing is thin and very light for a 15in. notebook. Personally I didn't like the standard screen and I wanted to go to widescreen so that notebook was no option for me. I also wouldn't say it's better because it has a larger screen. The larger the screen the more space the notebook will take up. In terms of build quality they both are almost identical from my perspective.
The choice really comes down to what you want to use it for and how much your willing to spend. -
Well price isn't a problem.
But now that I looked at it again, I think W3J is better!
Darn it, see I changed my mind again! -

If you wanna compare the W3J to the V6V, your better off with the W3J because of the better performance and modular bay battery.
If you are comparing the W3J and V6J, the W3J is cheaper provides a better video card that is roughly two times better. The W3J has a modular bay in which you can add a extra battery for extended battery life.
The W3J is widescreen, and widescreen is becoming more dominant, in laptops, and will continue to further dominate.
One of the reasons why you may want a V6va is the IPS screen.
One of the reasons why you may want a V6J is the higher resolution screen.
Depending on your needs, you can really go for either, if you can tell us exactly what your gonna do with the laptop, we can further help you. -
Ha, ha... I know what you mean about tough decisions.
Have you checked out the soon to be released V1J?

Just thought I'd throw in another contender... lol -
if i was to go for a V series right now i'd try to get the v6va..that IPS screen is a looker and the real estate is great too

I actually narrowed my Asus decision to these two models as well, it took me a while to decide.
From seeing both models side by side in a retail store, I was surprised how similar in size they were, and how well the V6 maximises screen realestate.
To be honest I actually like the V6 chassis more than the W3, it is seriuosly thin and looks good with the brushed aluminium surface.
However in the I got a W3J, the main reasons being.
1) The W3J has a better audio chip the V6 has the older AC97 audio chip, and the W3J has the newer Azalia Intel High Definition chip.
2) The W3J has a multibay, so you can have a second battery or run a second HDD (that was big for me, the ability to run a small system with two HDDs is great)
3) The 256mb ATI X1600 in the W3J.
As much as a love the V6 chassis, and this is just my own personal preference but for me the audio chip and multibay where the biggest reason for buying the W3 over the V6, even then I didnt know if I could live with the smaller screen as as soon as the W3J was released with the ATI X1600, that really sealed the deal.
If the V6 came with a multibay and Intel HD audio chip, I would have purchased the V6..... but it didnt, so I got the W3J.
I pruchased the W3 not knowing if I could live with the smaller screen, and if I couldn't I would upragde to the V6 chassis sooner than later, but as it turns out I am happy working with the 14'' widescreen and am pleased with my W3J.

nz pretty much covered the differences..but if you can wait there's the V1J with the advantages of both..in a way..multibay + high res screen

Sorry to bring this subject up again after the thread's been buried onto page three, but when does V1J come out?
IdeaDirect, I hate you!
Now I have to choose between three great laptops. The only thing I don't like about the V1J is the webcam; it makes the whole laptop uglier, I don't know why.

It depends on your use really.
For me, doing graphic design, the 1400x1050 screen is much more useful then anything else. compare to W3J's 1280x768 14" , the V6J's screen is a dream to work with. Also, V6J is lighter, and much thinner.
Hope this helps. -
By the way, you can upgrade your V6J's screen to V6Va's IPS urself
