    Hi

I was just wondering if the new W3J will have a built-in camera and mic like the W3V..

I read from Auroras that it wont have a camera, but will contain a mic.. just want to verify if this is true..

    Thanx!

    The W3V doesn't have a built-in camera, and neither will the W3j.

No reason they would take away the mic, safe to assume that the W3j has one.

...I'm pretty sure you should know what you're talking about before commenting.... the W3 doesn't have a camera and even your link doesn't come close to mentioning it....

The W3j will not have a camera to my best knowledge, wasn't planned or even talked about........... but the W3v certainly doesn't or did it have a camera at any point in time..... and actually that goes for any W3 model.

Oh, I'm sorry... not your fault, simply the people who work on Asus' Canadian site..... That's so stupid.... they could legally get in a lot of trouble over that. Anyone in Canada with a W3v legally may have some ground to stand on if they complain that the unit doesn't have a camera.... I'm not sure how they could miss something like that, but it just doesn't exisit.

I wouldn't want to complain. They might stick an ugly camera on this beautiful machine. :p

the w3 line has a built in mic? has anyone used it, say for recording a lecture? i've thought about trying that in my linguistics class, but it would be a pain with an external mic.

I haven't tried. But I've already asked before (when I still didn't have my notebook) about this type of thing. Apparently the built in mic is only for talking online, VOIP and such. It's not that sensitive to ambient noise.

I'll try to see if it's possible though... Maybe in Math Class eh AuroraS? ;)

Dr. Lamb talks too fast and mumbles quite a lot... I doubt the built-in mic would pick anything up :p

I have used the built-in mic.. it's great for VOIP - picks up my voice just fine even when I sit quite far from the screen.
