Not trying to make you guys upset, but the W3J and A8Jm will be both delayed a little bit, the earliest possible time to expect W3J will be the VERY VERY end of April or early May ( to arrive Asus USA warehouse), dealers should have it one week after that. A8Jm will be right after W3J, new models available in April will be A6J (already in), the next one will be Z62J.

is this just for your company or is it a north american delay where other re-sellers are affected?

Taiwan didn't get the W3j's on the shipment they were expected to, but there is no actual ETA update. the 17th-21st was based on the W3j's leaving Taiwan no later than Saturday the 1st. I don't believe they did, however Taiwan has yet to actually confirm WHEN they left, but even though a few days may cause a difference there, they just had a shipment of motherboards that got held up in customs for more than two weeks... so I imagine they don't want to get anyone's hopes up.
I have heard though that the "official release" in the US won't come till the second shipment, because much of the first shipment is already accounted for and that's without much marketing....
Just have to sit tight and flow with the punches... that's what happens when a product is coming from half way around the world. -
I knew this was coming.....
-
The thing that sucks most about it... is since it is charged on the credit card, that means I need to pay it off in the month so I don't get charged interest. But since I might not have a product by then, I could have made money off that money instead of just leaving it out there
But it is all good. Anyone who has followed these forums figured that it would be this way, still a tad depressing but what do you do
My only other option I would look at would be a MSI 1039 and that isn't for sale to mid april either...
-
darn...
Too bad pchome.com.tw doesnt' deliever their product oversea.... -
Question for ProPortable... when does our "1 year warranty" start? Is it on the date of purchase (when you charged my card) or when I receive the product at my door?
One good thing about a wait... gives me more time to save more money for more ram and other accessories -

First of all, no one has been "charged" yet, although they will be by Monday once I get through all the orders. The warranty typically starts on the date of purchase, however on an advanced order like this, your serial number indicates when it arrived and that is the date that Asus takes into consideration for the warranty. You can't have a system on 3/31 that didn't arrive into the states until 5/1...... (that's just an example)
-
Ok I take back that it has been "charged". My account shows that there is a $1800 hold on the card (for the laptop). I assume you do that to make sure that there is credit on that account.
-
Thanks to Danny and Justin for the updates, much appreciated. I'm honestly not disappointed, just grateful that I was in that first shipment, and certainly not wishing I had purchased a different laptop - I'm quite pleased with my W3J decision
It will come when it comes, and until then I'll be content to enjoy my new Asus monitor - when that comes :asus:

Right... well actually when you hit "confirm" on our site, you place a hold on your account. When you hit confirm, your details go to your bank and then your bank kicks back a good or bad response (basically)... if they kick back an ok, it only means that your credit card number was a legit number and there were the proper funds available. If that's ok, then the site will issue an order id (everything above takes place in about a second or so), but from that point there is a "hold" and then we've got to dig deeper and verify addresses, names, exp. dates, etc.... so we could still void out that hold and reject the order, but 99% of the advanced orders are safe there, I already checked....... It's not that you needed to know this, but anything that gives people a better understanding of the system is always a good thing I guess.
-
Very nice to know! Thanks a ton Justin. I agree, not necessary to tell us that but it makes me feel a little bit better knowing what is going on
Muchos appreciated!
-
I think most of us understood that ETA means estimated time of arrival. It is unfortunate but nothing to get upset over.
-
-
I don't really mind the delay either. We are a lot closer than we were a month ago. The updated information is very nice and having Danny and Justin here is so helpful to us crazed rabid Asus fans.
-
Oh, is the A6j in? Is A6ja also in? Quite interested in that model
even though it doesn't look the best in my opinion.
-
Disappointing, yes. Deal breaker, no.
Gotta roll with it.
More time to study for board exams, I suppose.
Ahh, nuts. -
I looked on your website and it's not posted, could you give us the details on it? Price, weight, specs, etc... ?
Thanks!! -
The A8Jm seems to be coming earlier than i initially expected, May instead of summer. Only time will tell.
Thanks for all the updates guys. Makes us asus want-to-be owners a little more settled.

The A6jc came in a week ago......
-
Any new news on the W3J?
-
ProP site shows 05/01 as the ETA...and that's all I have to say about that /F.Gump
-
since the a8j and w3v are arriving at the same time, anyone consider going a8j?

no expounding needed.... the A8 is very plain... much like the A series has always been...... the W3 really has a nicer fit and finish. Both are good and some may find the A8 nicer, but I've seen the A8 and I've used a W3 for the better part of a year and just know the ins and outs of it better than some who may just look at the specs and pictures.... The A8 and A9 series are the nicest editions to the A series so far, but the W and V series' are going to remain the "premium" models...
-
May it is! Good things come to those who wait . . .

... anyway.. yeah, it's a model but there has been NOTHING said by Asus about it anywhere in the world... but if you doubt me, I do have pictures, so I'm not making it up.. -
-
Looks like it has a better video card than the A6Jc (7300).
I'm contemplating getting this or the Acer 5672. They are both VERY similar, but the Acer heats up a lot. Opinions anyone?? -
MilestonePC.com Company Representative
), and AS5672 has a way too shiny screen.
BTW, do you know a small trick from Acer "international traveler warranty"? This is one reason I don't like Acer that much. You only get the international warranty when you travel to one country and the notebook stops working, no international warranty if you move to that country, you need to go back to the country where you are moving from, tricky enough? -
Anyways I'm leaning towards ASUS because of this forum and the general praise for their build quality! (I hope the A series is well built)
Another concern I have is with how portable this laptop will be at ~6.27lbs, right now I won't be traveling, but probably down the road my job will require me to travel (although that's probably awhile down the road for me).
How long would one of these laptops last? I know that's tough to say and depends on the person, but I'm just a moderate user, don't really need to stay up-to-date with the newest GPU, and I'll be doing mostly school work, so Im just wondering when I will need to replace it.
Err.. the above is probably a dumb question so feel free to ignore me -
Justin and Danny, thanks for the updates, they are much appreciated. Of course many of us are chomping at the bit to get our newly ordered laptops but the two of you keeping everyone in the loop on anticipated delivery times from Asus allows us to moderate our expectations.
Thanks,
Chewy -

I have to say that I was initially looking at the Acer 8204 and decided the W3J would be superior in every way, at least for the demands that I had in mind. I don't have any regrets at all. I've still kept up with some Acer info though, and it seems that in general they have more issues than the Asus laptops do.
-
Is it May yet?
My latest obsession is a case and sleeve for it. -
I'm still looking for a case, however. I purchased the aluminum briefcase from PROPortable for when I travel with it (i.e. plane, etc) but I am still looking for a backpack type of bag for me to carry it around to class with me. I am gonna check out some places soon and let you know if I make any decisions -
EDIT: Also, do you know if we will be getting any of the other A8J models with lesser specs??
Thanks Danny! -
The W3J is expected to arrive in the Netherlands on 04-20 (it would have been 4-11 first), that's why I assume you'd better expect it in the US early May, not the end of April.

The whitebox model has not been 100% decided, still waiting for the final confirmation from Taiwan, I FEEL with similiar specs, without OS, it should be about US$150 cheaper. It should be similiar design, might be dark color. -

I know it's 14" Widescreen with nVidia 7300 128mb.
Do you know what the base price is, or the price range with average specs?
What about the weight (same as Z62F 5.5lbs?)? And will it looks exactly the same as the Z62F?
Will it arrive sometime in April?
Thanks so much Danny (OR PROPortable if you know the answers!).... SO MANY ASUS' TO CHOOSE FROM!! -
Is it May yet?
-
-
Will I be able to get my laptop at least by 5/1?
-
I'm going to say probably not - it shoulds like Taiwan Asus missed their shipment date so with delays getting into the country due to customs...etc, I think we're looking early May. This is one thing that I hope I'm wrong about.
-
This does not bode well for ASUS. The more they delay, the more consumers will look to other brands. ASUS will (potentially) lose out on a prime opportunity to increase their market presence and "buzz."
-
like battlecat posted above:
any mention of a lower speced a8j or a8f coming in whitebox or ensemble? (I personally don't need any gpu)
also any confirmed weight of a a8j/f? the US Asus site says (if I remember) 4.2lb for a8f
W3J will delay a little bit
