I've been looking at three labtops on ASUS's website:
    the W3J
    http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=5&l2=26&l3=153&model=1072&modelmenu=1
    the A8Ja
    http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=5&l2=26&l3=270&model=1067&modelmenu=1
    and the A8Jm
    http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=5&l2=26&l3=270&model=1065&modelmenu=1

The first thing I was wondering was what graphics card does the A8Jm actually have? The main page lists it as a GeForce Go 7800 while looking at the specification page, it's reported as a GeForce Go 7600.

I'd be interested to know what the differences are between the three models. They seem very similar only that the A8 series seems to have a built-in webcam while the W3J has Splendid Video Intelligence technology and gigabit ethernet. Does anyone know what the weight and battery life difference is between the two series? I'd also be interested to know whether the GeForce Go 7600 is better than the X1600 and if either of the series accepts SATA hard drives.

    Commander,
I'm sure others will answer your questions more appropriately than I could on the differences between those lappies that your looking at, however I can speak to the graphics card question. You can find what your looking for here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=39568&highlight=mobile+graphics+cards

I simply typed, "mobile graphics cards" in the search box and this the FIRST STICKY'd thread in the Gaming (Software and Graphics Cards) section.
    Cheers
    TeF ;)

I haven't used these forums before so I didn't know there was a graphics card section. Thanks for the link.

Someone more expert than me can answer but I have asked the same question and I was told A W series uses high end materials, A series is lower end. The As are a little heavier, they are same as the Z62F except with dedicated graphics. A8s will be several hundred dollars less - I priced a Z62F dual core at around $1400 - I am excited about the A8s!

The A series is lower end? Hmm. I actually liked the look of the A series. It's probably just bias toward the silver colour though. I wished they had larger, better pictures available. The picture of the W series is too dark and combined with the black colour it's hard to see details. I wished they'd add the webcam to the W series. As long as Microsoft fixed that USB power leakage issue, the built-in webcam is a nice feature to have.

im pretty sure someone will say SEARCH, but the only place that's even mentioned the A8's is asus's website, so i am assuming that these aren't coming to the US. Am i right?

I talked with the guy at geared2play and he said that with the W you are paying a huge premium for the fancy materials - he gave me the impression that the screen, motherboard etc. are all the same quality - hmmm hey I'd rather have the A8J and save several hundred dollars, I too like the lighter look. DVI out? Yes! Finally catching up to Apple.

Really hope this comes out in USA.
