When comparing my iGoogle homepage on the W3J to other computers, my macbook g4 and viewsonic monitor, the bars on the different sections look gray on the W3J and brown on the other monitors.

Should I be concerned about my graphics card malfunctioning or is it a difference in hardware? Any help would be appreciated.

Is this a recent thing on your W3? You're right, they look brown on my monitor here also. You could try playing around with the gamma settings and/or split the RGB up and see what happens. I'm not sure whether a hue adjustment will accomplish what you are looking for.

It's probably a general card thing and not a specific malfunction for you, the W3 was prone to some funky colors (the W3a is famous for overkilled blue) that sometimes needed some tweaking in the graphics panel through the ATI settings. There was an old thread way back that talked about people's color settings using the ATI panel to get the best reproduction, but that was a long time ago and I'm not sure if it would show up in search.

i dont think this is any malfunction........have u installed any adobe product recently......as adobe must be loaded with adobe gamma loader which may sometimes play with colors......if thats so remove it from startup after reviving the values......try ur grafics card setup also......look for any color new profiles and remove them right click on desktop>>personalize>>display settings>>advanced settings>>color management>>color management>>advanced>>device profile...........this should be
system default (sRGB IEC61966-2.1) if its not change it to the default vaue
all other options here should have the system default value.........reply ur results..............btw check for strong magnetic fields near ur computer.......havent heard of LCD screens suffering from this....however lets not take a chance

kuncheesh, it'd be helpful if you used some paragraph breaks and normal punctuation in your messages. They might become more readable (well, actually, readable at all).

This is completely normal, this generally plagues all laptops and monitors due to the amount of different manufacturers of LCD monitors without a standard of color output. If your into Photography, a Graphic Designer or a Web designer or just sensitive about color you might want to invest in a product called Colorvision Spyder, they run about $80 for the base model($170+ for pro and above) and calibrates all your monitors and displays so that you won't experience things like what you mentioned above.

However if your not a professional and don't want to spend extra money on something like this, you may want to figure out the manufacturer of the LCD screen and download the appropriate ICM file for it. On my W3V it's always slightly yellow compared to my other monitors, fortunately I do own a Spyder that helps me with this problem, I wish I could share the profile but the file is proprietary to Spyder's software.

And finally if that option isn't available, just fine tune the color settings yourself in the display settings. Of course use a comparable laptop or monitor to display the exact same things side by side and just eyeball the RBG and Gamma settings as best as possible.

I believe it was *my* suggestion first..... heh, heh  :p

I also use the Spyder Express, which fixed my blue problem and made my W3a all pretty. There is a way to get it onto another system which I had posted here last year, but it involves uploading an exe file as well as the calibrated Spyder profile (which may/not have legal implications if one doesn't own the hardware).

OK I have uploaded my W3V ICM profile to Rapidshare which created from my Spyder2express.

You do need the Microsoft Color Control Panel if your running Windows XP. If your using Vista, then all you need to do is load this ICM as default for your device. It should be straight forward, but if you need help. Let me know how this goes and if it indeed improves your colors! I'm very curious if the W3J uses the exact same panel.
