I like the specs and size with the possible optical drive battery, but is it a good computer in terms of quality and price?

I need it by next week so Santa Rosa wait is out of the question.

    thanks

The product has been EOLed, so it could be hard to find. I like my W3J, but I am slightly disappointed about the battery life (only about 3 hours with WiFi). They used old battery technology and only an 8-cell battery for the machine. If you can find the machine for a good price, then I would probably say to go for it; it's a great machine. Though, if you don't need the graphics card, I would suggest looking at something else so you could get better battery life and maybe a thinner/lighter machine with a 14" screen.

Get one if you can find it. I have been using mine since august and have no problems so far and gaming performance is amazing

I have had mine for over 6 months and I am really happy with it. It is incredibly powerful for the weight. My only complaint is sometimes I use older software / games and they don't support the widescreen ratio but other than that I am really happy with it.

I second what Trooper said. I actually just bought the W3J a couple of weeks ago and could not be happier. With WIFI and BT off, I get about 4 hours battery life. Build quality is excellent, gaming ability is good, and it looks down right sexy! :p

If you want a descent dedicated videocard AND crave quality and looks go for it.
If not you can certainly find something else without the above for less.

Woot...on my way to buying one right now. First was the A8Js, then G1, then A8Jp....now I find the aluminum brushed top quite sexy and the size and power unbeatable.

Top that with XP Pro...I think I just made my birthday this coming weekend that MUCH sweeter!

Thanks NBR'ers! I owe you all some beers any time of day.

Great notebook. Get the optical battery if you want longer battery life.

    Cheers.

    Damn you people!
Here I was almost tipped over in favour of getting a Compal HEL80 (can't find a w3j with a dual 2 core within the EU) and you go and put on a w3j-lovefest!
