I was wondering if anyone else also had these problems. I use video out to an external monitor and it seems that there is a sort of flickering or refreshing if I may, I know LCDs don't have refresh rates, when viewing certain images and a sort of fuzziness to the words displayed as well.

I'm also having a problem using the built in microphone line in port, it seems like there is a lot of interference and static. (I use it to process the sound from my xbox 360.)

Both of these problems do not occur with my Velocity Micro B50 (Rebranded Compal) notebook so I'm pretty sure these are defects in the laptop. Thanks.

FYI: I also reformatted my system to make sure it wasnt my setup and I'm running the stock catalyst drivers. It's a merom T5500 system with 2.09 bios i believe, so the grainess fix should have already been applied right?

No, you need to go to the Asus site to pick up 2.10 to fix the graininess. 2.09a also has the fix but it's an unofficial Beta.

The internal mics are known to have feedback loop. If you are recording you should have playback disabled or rather mute the speaker volume. You can also try a usb mic. s video as it is called is not a great means of extending video to an external source, Use the vga connection.

Go into the volume control panel, click 'Advanced' under Microphone, and make sure 'Mic Boost' is turned off.
