hitting port and being released are two veeeery different things. They are supposed to be arriving at port today, but there hasn't been any word of that and probably wouldn't be until Thursday which would be when Asus physically picks them up. Then they need to be sorted, shipped to places like us and then those need to sorted here and backorders processed... Technical "release" doesn't happen till the 2nd shipment ;)

As far as this goes, we'll know more by the end of the week.

It's going to be later... todays update pushed all availability at Asus to 11/2 -11/3.. which means out to us for Monday/Tuesday (6th or 7th).

... that's for all of the 2nd shipments of the merom models and the 1st shipment of the W3

That's the spirit! If only more people could put on a happy face when faced with a slight delay after an already long wait.

I know it goes without saying, but I might as well put it on record to see if it'll improve the luck. I'm crossing my fingers for there to be a surprise of some form when they open that W3Jp shipment. :D

Apple's new MBPs are all using high-end T7400 or T7600 so you'd think that'd leave more of the other Meroms for the rest of us. Also, ASUS sent a review F3Ja system to X-Bit Labs with a T5600 so they do have some CPUs higher than the T5500.

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mobile/display/core2duo.html

Incidentally, the review said that The T5600 is on average less than 10% faster than the T2400, but 20% faster in video tasks. So Merom provides about 1 clock speed bump equivalent performance over Yonah. This is for a 2MB version though, the 4MB cache should add another clock speed equivalent bump. So a T5600 should perform like a T2500 and a T7200 like a T2700. Hinting that a T5500 W3Jp would be slightly slower than a T2500 W3J with a T5600 needing to match speed.

haha yeah, i figure moping and complaining will only make the wait seem longer. thanks for all of your responses and help and for keeping my impatient self updated. If there's any breakthroughs in the W3J department, let me know :D

Ditto that.... They started to roll in yesterday and we were even able to get out some of the first advanced orders last evening. More are shipping today and we should be up to date with the advanced orders by Monday afternoon and there will be stock left over.

Can we expect to see W3j with faster CPU in the near future (January?) I would order W3j right away but I would love to have T7200 or better for this amount of $
